(EDINBURG) – Mercedes head boys’ soccer coach Jose Almanzan had mixed emotions about his team’s 2-2 tie against Edinburg Vela on Tuesday night.

“Offensively I feel we did alright,” said Almanzan. “We scored two goals and made some good decisions with the ball.”

“As for our defense, we need to fix a couple of things. We made some mistakes tonight that allowed Vela to score twice. And even though the mistakes are something I don’t like to see, they are little details that can be fixed.”

Alexis Rodriguez and Maycol Castro scored the goals for Mercedes and overall Almanzan was pleased with what he saw.

“Overall we did good and the effort was there tonight.”
