(EDCOUCH) – After witnessing her team blank Brownsville Porter 10-0 on Tuesday night, Edcouch-Elsa head softball coach Ruth Flores finally saw what she has been looking for since the season started.

“We played a complete game tonight,” Flores said. “The girls hit the ball well, Ocean (Gomez) threw a great game and our defense played well.”

“I was so proud of their effort tonight and we ended the first half strong.”

Edcouch-Elsa finished the first half at 4-3 in District 32-5A with the win and Flores hopes that her team can get on a roll in the second half of play.

“We finished the first half with the same exact record as last year and started playing a lot better in the second half,” said Flores. “Maybe the girls like playing with their backs against the walls.”

“I feel if we can play all three phases of softball and can open the second half with wins over Donna North and Donna High, that will get us on a bit of a roll.”
